Anthology 2024
OTHER: the 2024 fantasy short story anthology
We are seeking international short story submissions by writers who identify as women for an anthology with a focus on what it means to be on the outside looking in, or comfortably or uncomfortably out of step with the world(s) at large, and with a fantasy element (either subtle or writ large). The story can be visually focused, or character/narrative focused, as long as it leaves the reader thinking about the story long after closing the book. We don’t want a lesson, we want an experience that makes us come alive.
GENRE:
Fantasy. Give us stories of wonder. Humour is fine as long as it’s not about the mic drop. No erotica, gore, or excessive violence.
Send us your best work, fully edited. Only one story per author will be accepted. No retellings; we want to see original stories.
SUBMISSION:
No multiple or simultaneous submissions. If you’ve been rejected, check our free checklist for publishing before submitting again.
No flash fiction. Stories should be 2500 – 3500 words.
We do not accept submissions written whole or in part by AI. No reprints.
Submission Format – in the body of your email include:
- the title
- genre
- number of words
- brief description of the story (2-3 sentences)
- 2-3 sentences about how your story fits with the theme of being on the outside looking in (or comfortably or uncomfortably out of step with the world at large)
